4 Things Every Customer Wants to See on a Business Website

Customers love well-designed websites because they are an easy and convenient way to connect to a business through its virtual presence. As a result, having a well-designed website is crucial for excellent customer satisfaction. Not only that, but websites are so integral to our increasingly online world that not having an effective or attractive website can actively harm your company’s image and productivity. Here are four essential components that a business must have on its website to be effective in establishing good customer relations.

Customer Reviews

Having reviews about products that a business sells will give customers an insight into how to tell if they want the product. Consumers who used to rely on word-of-mouth recommendations now rely on online reviews. In fact, over 80 percent of consumers trust reviews as much as they trust recommendations from family and friends. One quick Google search is all they need to make a decision about your business. While keeping a moderator to ensure that comments are not offensive can be costly, having a customer review section will provide valuable interaction. Customers will be able to form judgments about the product or service that a business offers and make a better-informed decision about whether to purchase it. Even if they decide not to pursue a purchase based on a review, they will keep a positive opinion of the company and might shop there again.

The Company’s Personality

Consumers also love to read about how a company sees itself with its philosophy. A short but powerful business statement will tell the world what a company wishes to do. Interesting facts about the company should be put out here, too; its history, successes and fun facts should be published to add some dimension. This is also a great way to use your “about us” page of your website. Most “about us” pages are boring and not very interesting, which doesn’t have the be the case. You can add blog posts and other articles that talk about your company’s activities and events. Connecting to social media is a great way to do this. Not only will people see that your company provides a good product or service, but the people enjoy working there and customers and consumers will feel better about supporting your business. A mission statement or about us page doesn’t need to run on for long, but giving a human dimension to a company can create a likable personality for it.

Services

A business should also have all of its products or services available online for customers to research. If a business offers a service and doesn’t advertise it, how will the world know to go to them for the service? Most products and all services should be listed online in an easy-to-read format. They should also be written concisely with a way for customers to figure out the price. You’re going to want to focus on writing seductive copy to persuade your readers. That being said, you don’t want to flood every page of your website with your products or services, because that can make some potential customers turn away. People don’t like feeling like they are only being sold to, which is why having designers and copywriters can help you ensure you won’t be too pushy or self-promotional. Don’t overlook this step!

Customer Service Line

It can try a customer’s patience to try to reach a company for a solution to a problem and the company not to have contact information published. Be sure to keep this information in an easy-to-find location, such as a dedicated “Contact Us” page. You need to guarantee that customer’s requests will be met with speed and will be handled effectively. You don’t want to have a situation where someone has emailed you, texted you, called you, mentioned you on Twitter, Facebook, and more before you actually get to their request. Make sure that when a phone number is called, it will not confuse a customer. Keep it staffed with helpful and nice employees to ensure consumers will be happy in dealing with the business in good and bad times. Hiring people to chat with customers who have complaints or having someone who constantly manages your social media can help prevent any potential future problems.

A website can be extremely effective in capturing the attention of a consumer. People are looking for a business that offers excellent customer service. Keep a website packed with this essential information to help your visitors keep a positive opinion about your business. Remember that if you don’t have a website or you have a bad website, you are effectively blocking off an entire portion of your potential customers and with our current competitive market, you can’t afford to exclude anyone.
